Director of the A.R. Mitchell Museum of Western Art
Lead the museum's development to cultivate and coordinate annual and long-term fundraising goals, strategies, programs and events.
Identify corporate, foundation and government grantors who may support the mission and programs of the museum and develop and implement an annual grant submission schedule.
Maintain grant applications records, manage development of grantor relationships, and coordinate grant reporting with the board of directors.
Develop and implement a donor-based fundraising plan for the museum that should include multiple communications and events throughout the year including: charitable giving campaigns, letters, brochures, and email solicitations culminating in a significant increase in individual and corporate donations.
Develop organizational and informational materials for museum staff, volunteers and visitors and plan and oversee community events and outreach programs.
Systematically and effectively strengthen the organizations overall fundraising capacity and national visibility.
Engage in social media, electronic and paper communications to promote connection between the organization’s supporters, the media, the online community, state policy makers, and community leaders.
Work with other museums, libraries and public and private entities to coordinate internal and external exhibits that inform and educate the public about Arthur Roy Mitchell his life and work.
Oversee the collection of art, artifacts and archives.
Manage staff, volunteers and serve as a community spokesperson for the Museum.
Constantly display good judgment and serve as an ambassador for the Museum
The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced and resourceful professional who is well organized, highly motivated, diplomatic, able to successfully and positively engage a variety of people, and is capable of communicating effectively in a wide variety of situations and mediums. Experience with individual and corporate donations, charitable giving, endowments and major gifts is especially desirable. Knowledge of grant writing, philanthropic and nonprofit communities and state and federal programs is also important. Previous experience in developing and executing organizational growth, branding and marketing is highly advantageous to this position.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required and 2+ years of significant experience and proven success in securing funding from individual donors, foundations, corporations and governments
